I'd been babbling about it for weeks,and then (joy of joys!!!), 2 weeks ago it FINALLY happened! My octopus arrived via special delivery and our store has never been the same! I am nearly hysterical with excitement over this newcomer to our clan of the fantastic and the unexpected, and when Lord Bodner's Octopus Study - or (as I have fondly dubbed him) General Sherman - made his subsequent debut everyone agreed that he was the coolest thing to EVER hit the Mall of America! Now, I realize that is a huge statement to make, but I can't imagine a piece more beautiful, more dramatic, more elegant, more strange than this enormous print which welcomes you into our east entrance. You can't miss him as he lurks about our sunken treasure, Jules Verne inspired window, beckoning you to stop and take in a little adventure! We've all become very attached to him in the short time that he has been with us, but that doesn't mean we don't want him to find a lovely new home (or, perhaps, office or restaurant) to live in - someone here mentioned how perfect he would be in a sushi restaurant!!! Nonetheless, if you haven't been in for a while the General is worth the visit, and if you find yourself falling in love with him just like we have, but don't really have room on your walls for a giant octopus, we carry many excellent substitutions or momentos of sorts, including octopus rings, necklaces, and *cute* earrings!!! Or how about sending a lovely octopus greeting to that special someone?!!!!! We have several greeting cards, too, featuring various takes on all things octopi!!!!
******ADDENDUM********* SINCE THIS WAS WRITTEN LAST MARCH GENERAL SHERMAN HAS BEEN A MAIN ATTRACTION HERE AT MALL OF AMERICA. TODAY HE FINALLY FOUND ANOTHER OCEAN (ER- HOME) TO LIVE IN, AND WE COULDN'T BE HAPPIER FOR HIM AND HIS NEW BEST FRIEND MOLLY! WE'LL MISS YOU, MR. SHERMAN!
