It's Over Already?

Wow...I emerged from another exciting evening of grocery shopping and laundry to see the closing ceremonies of the 21st Winter Olympic Games on the telly. I could swear they just started! I know the networks specialize in making melodrama of sport, but they really didn't need much help this time around. I confess I got the lump in my throat as the whole stadium rose to honor Georgian luge hopeful Nodar Kumaritashvili who was killed during a practice run. And our house ran out of tissues after watching Joannie Rochette win the bronze in figure skating after losing her mother the weekend before. Whew! Heavy stuff. From the triumph of the new eyes of Steven Holcomb and his team of sliders winning gold in bobsled (including Nebraska's own Curt Tomasevicz - go Huskers!) to actually getting medals in Nordic skiing (wow!!), our U.S. athletes contributed plenty of their own drama to the show (and what was with that disqualification of Apollo Ohno? Things that make you go hmmm...). Makes me want to hit the slopes while we still have snow! (of course, skiing Nebraska leaves a bit to be desired....)
