12 Days of Christmas Ornaments-Polka Dot Pretty

On the seventh day of Christmas, I put on my tree... seven swirls of glitter, six modest mice, GOOOOOOLD, PURPLE RED GREEN four cupcake cuties three sparkly sparrows two tiny martinis and an underwater amigurumi! (We fought it for as long as we could...but as soon as Thanksgiving is over, it is officially C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S T-I-M-E here at The Afternoon! And to help you deck your halls and trim your tree, we are bringing you 12 days of posts about our wide variety of Christmas ornaments, everything from adorable to elegant to funky to modern.) Friends, I can go on and on about classy Christmas ornaments (of which we have several) and elegant Christmas ornaments (of which we have many) but deep down in my holiday-loving heart, there are only two criteria for what I really love in a Christmas decoration: 1. Is it bright? 2. Is it sparkly? Unfortunately, having such standards means that my personal Christmas aesthetic is a little bit...well...tacky. All those jewel-toned sparklers can kind of overwhelm a tiny tree in a tiny apartment, and I have to be careful not to overdo it. Maybe that's why I love these simple polka dot orbs...they fit into my colors perfectly, but they're not obnoxious or overpowering. They just sort of round out my tree (pardon the pun!) If you're like me, the Tacky Christmas Queen, get some to fill in the holes in your tree; and if your Christmas palette has been a little too subdued lately, consider it a great stepping stone to brighter, more glittery heights! Coming up tomorrow: friendly frosties!
