crazy cute

There is something joyfully irreverent about Karine Demers' art. Classically trained at Cegep du Vieux-Montreal and Espace VERRE, this Canadian artist has considerable skill and obvious passion for her work. Hypnotized by the flamboyant movement of glass, Demers blows and enamels glass to create organic forms inspired by human nature. The pieces are beautifully executed; but rather than stick to colors and obscure shapes like most, Demers chooses to free her mind and gives life to whimsical protagonists and playful decor. The results are paperweights, plates, and even necklaces with delightfully demented looking cats and charmingly off-kilter boys grinning at you from under glass...and you can't help but grin back!
